Rated 92 – Aviron’s 2017 Chénas Vieilles Vignes is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with a lavish bouquet of cherries, strawberries and red fruit compote. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit, ripe acids and powdery, largely concealed tannins. This is an expressive, charming Chénas that’s already hard to resist.
