Rated 95-97 – On the Right Bank, Pomerol was the place to be in 2019, and the 2019 Chateau Nenin is one of the finest wines from this address I’ve tasted. Based on 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc still aging in 45% new French oak, this deep purple-hued effort has a gorgeous nose of ripe blackberry and blueberry fruits interwoven with lots of classic tobacco, damp earth, chocolate, and cedar pencil nuances. Ripe yet also fresh and lively on the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, has beautiful tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish.
