The Nahe region of Germany is located just west of the Rheinhessen and east of the Mosel. The soils found in this region vary from sandy loam found in the north to slate in the south. The wines produced in these soils range from those possessing a flowery bouquet similar to the wines of Mosel in the south to the delicate and medium-bodied wines like those of the Rheinhessen. The vineyards found on the steep slopes of the Nahe River are planted predominantly to Müller-Thurgau, Riesling and Silvaner. The wines they produce can be described as fragrant, fruity, and full of flavor.
