Bacchus was the Greek god of the grape and its most important by-product, WINE!
It is also one of Germany’s superior white grape crosses (Sylvaner x Riesling) found in the Rheinhessen region of Germany and England.
In America the Bacchus grape is thought to be a clone of the Vitis Riparia (a native species that has given rise to several good red wine grapes) and the Vitis Labrusca. It was grown in northern Ohio and a little in New York State.
