She comes up behind me while I'm working at the desk, sketching a new 3-bay workshop: covered porch, enclosed shop area, drive-in equipment bay. A second storey will provide ample storage space.
"Nice", she says.
"Thanks. It'll have everything we need. And I can move my tools and equipment out of the greenhouse and completely give that over to you, turning half of it into a potting shed," I say hopefully, knowing she has wanted an arrangement like that.
"Great! But what's that?!" she exclaims.
"What's what?" I ask innocently.
"That little room at the rear of the middle bay, let's see, it's about 6' X 12'" she says. "Oh, let me guess! It's a wineroom, right?"
And bless her, she says "Why not?" and walks out.
And bless her, she says "Why not?" and walks out, leaving a knot on the side of his hard head the size of the proposed wine room......
Bucko

Yeah, I fully expected a sharp rap on the noggin, scratch of the face, knee to the groin, or some other playful expression of endearment. Instead, she says, "Why not?"
Go figure. Maybe I'm being set up.....
[This message has been edited by hotwine (edited 03-06-2001).]

She is that. I once made the mistake of telling her she had no sense of humor. She snorted, "Hah! I married you, didn't I?"
Nah, I smell a set-up. She's probably planning a quid pro quo - something like, "I agreed to your playhouse, complete with wineroom. Now I want a Lexus!" That could turn out to be one VERY expensive wineroom...

It sure is, WW. I'm just trying to plan ahead..... And a new workshop IS in the offing, because she wants me to demolish the old toolshed and metal storage building, and replace those with a single NICE building, farther from the house. And rebuild the greenhouse to her specs. So, the time is right to be thinking about a wineroom. It would be more useful for long-term storage than everyday use, since it will be about 50 yds from the house..... (thinking, thinking...)

There's too much bedrock between here & there. If there's something out there that I've just gotta have, and it's not in the Eurocave, I'll just have to suck it up and sprint. It'll be a test of just how bad I've gotta have it.
Since last post, I've staked it out, after moving it farther back, and it's now 85 yds from (house) backdoor to planned (shop) front door. It's where the old toolshed presently sits - an open area that will allow construction of this thing without threatening any of the surrounding oaks.
She's now planning to summon me to supper by cellphone......
I'm thinking a 6' X 12' wineroom might not be quite big enough; maybe 8' X 12' or even 10' X 12'...
