Pinot Blanc
trocken
Austria
13.5%
$15

Pale yellow, almost lacking color. Spicey nose with hints of fruit. Fruity entrance, with a herbacious finish. Matched wonderfully with grilled halibut (coated for one hour in olive oil, fresh herbs, garlic and lemon juice) on a bed of long grain rice with a side of steamed asperagus.

I am definitely going to have to try more Austrian wines. And man, the first halibut of year is absolutely wonderful.

PBs from Europe are sure different from domestic ones, with the possible exception of Chateau St Jean. Particularly like the one from Alsace and Austria. Think the local problem is the wrong grape (another long standing controversy). Some think it is the melon grape that Muscadet is made from. Try those from Alsace.
