2008 Knapp Vineyards, Finger Lakes, Chardonnay ($11.99). Alcohol level: 12%. Thought I'd start a new thread on this as the other was getting a little long. This is still completely oak free, and it is getting to be our favorite Chard. Only some of those from Macon are in the same league, and they are going up in American $$.

It gives a nice blast of fruit on the nose and upfront. In the middle you get to savor the apples and pears, in an almost perfectly balanced wine. It caresses your palate, and finishes very nicely.

We matched it with grilled chicken breast over charcoal and apple chips; it had been covered with some EVOO and a rub of Herbs de Province, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. We had it with corn-on-the-cob, and sliced tomatoes. Wonderful Tuesday night.

These are some coments on the 2010 on another board while I was away: http://www.wineloverspage.com/forum/village/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=42333&p=346387&hilit=Knapp+Chardonnay#p346387

We drank the last of these tonight. We matched it with sauteed wild flounder filets, rice pilaf cooked over hazelnut oil and finished with veggie stock, and the very last of our fresh tomatoes sliced. The fish was sauted in light OO and unsalted butter, and after removing the seasoned fish, we degalsed the pan with the Chardonnay. We loved the meal.

P.S. The price hasn't changed, nor has the 2011.

We popped the first of two '11s tonight. It was as good or better than any previous vintages. We matched it with our first smoked chicken of the season tonight (over apple wood), biscuits, and green peas. Fabulous dinner for a Monday night.

Popped another '11 tonight with sautéed flounder filets, pilaf, and sliced vine ripened tomatoes. Fantastic! Great wine; great food.

Another '11 tonight with sautéed flounder fillets again; this time with fresh picked Frenchie green beans from the garden, along with lettuce and cherry tomato and "bought" purple onion and cucumber in salad. Yum!

We popped our last '11 tonight with leftover smoked chicken in volute sauce over toasted sourdough bread from Panera; as well as a wonderful salad in vinaigrette with only the lettuce from our garden.

Popped the first 2012 tonight. It was filled with fresh fruit and was scrumptious. We matched it with sautéed flounder filets, pilaf in veggie stock, and baby peas. Yum!

Since last post we have acquired two more '12s. Enjoyed one tonight with boneless chicken breasts roasted in a complex sauce of grainy mustard, honey, lemon juice, and various herbs and spices; sides were green beans, and biscuits. Yum!
