Would like to know the difference between Beaujolais Nouveau and Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau. I know, for example, that Georges du Boeuf has both labels. Could someone briefly explain?

I have not run across a Beaujolais Villages Nouveau from Duboeuf. Just checked his website at www.georges-duboeuf.com, and couln't find one listed there. There are 37 villages in the Beaujolais Villages appellation, so I suppose one of them could claim the distinction of Beaujolais Villages Nouveau. If you have access to both his Beaujolais Nouveau and Beaujolais Villages Nouveau, why not try both and share your tasting notes with us?

2/3 of the nouveau comes from the beaujolais appelation and the last 1/3 from the b-v appelation. I wonder if the french keep the b-v stuff for themselves. I will have to see if my local shop carries both and give them both a swig or two...or three....or four, well you get the picture.

Neal Rosenthal used to bring in one that was from one of the crus (I think Morgon) and cost like $20 a bottle....

Thanks for the responses! I found the two labels at http://www.duboeuf-beaujolais.com/nouveau.html if you scroll down to the bottom of the page and look to the left you'll see the two distinct labels.

The Georges duBoeuf Nouveau isn't on island yet. The wine I bought (for a friend) was from a different winery altogether and was a Beaujolais-Villages and sold for about $18.00 USD a bottle.
