Debra fixed a cold salad of marinated broiled shrimp, black beans, green onion, cilantro and tomato last night for us to have tonight. The marinade included soy sauce, Worchestershire, honey, lime juice, and a few other ingredients that escape me now. I was really scratching my head for a wine pairing. Plodded through the database and found a lone bottle of this white from the Texas Hill Country. I somehow felt in my gut that a Sauvingon Blanc was the right wine as a default, but landing on this orphan was blind stupid luck. Soft lemon, lime and honeyed pear notes with a touch of new oak as an undercurrent, it was just right with the complex flavors of the salad (and I normally don't like wood with my SW's). Alcohol at 13.2%, and $9.99 when purchased in 1998.

Creepinwood?

I thought that was either the best name ever for a butler, or a campsite peeping tom.

Well, $%^%@!. It looks like the recipe is copyrighted. The shrimp marinade includes fresh lime juice, thawed orange juice concentrate, soy sauce, Worcestershire, honey, garlic, large shrimp and spray olive oil. The salad contains chopped tomato, diced green onions, chopped cilantro, black beans, whole kernel corn, jalapeno pepper, lime juice, olive oil, cumin, salt and black pepper. Marinade the cold shrimp for an hour, then discard the marinade and pre-heat the broiler; broil the shrimp until done. Prepare the salad in a bowl and toss; spoon salad onto plates and cover with shrimp.

We used some 10-year-old honey from my beekeeping days, collected prior to arrival of the so-called "killer" (africanized) bees in this area. Still good.
