Essentially vintage tawney, a single vintage aged in barrels until bottling.

While I didn't have high expectations, I was a bit dissappointed in this port. It lacks the complexity, smoothness and finish of a good australian tawney and lacks the fruit and depth of a good vintage port. Honey color with a slight ruby accent. Aromas weren't bad, slightly nutty but not concentrated. In the mouth, the wood dominated with very light fruit and a slightly hot, short finish with cough syrup hints. More like sherry than port to me, I can't recommend it.

Actually better the second and third days, the medicinal whiff has blown off and its gained some depth and clear tawney port flavors. Still, there is much better to be had from Australia for the $24 this runs.
