From Darling Cellars on the West Coast of South Africa

Very thick with loads of honey and chrysanthanum on the nose, on taste, the same as the nose but with a strong acidity that makes the finish very medium length which is a bit disappointing. Otherwise decent for $18 per half bottle.

Is this similar to an icewine?

It's got some of the mouthfeel of icewine on the initial taste, but is not as complex nor as fruit dense as the icewine. Also icewines's finishes go on forever despite their high acidity level. I would say that you should drink this for what it is, an $18 thicker than normal late harvest and enjoy the bargain! A nice icewines will set you back a bunch more.
