I have a slew of 1963 vintage ports-Warre's & Taylor, but I can't seem to find any information about this vintage and its' current value anywhere. I have sold all my personal 1977 port collection and was probably taken severe advantage of, but I do not want to do this with my 63's which I have carefully maintained and treasured for years. Why is it so impossible to ascertain its value?

The best way to check value, if you have a significant amount, is to check with an auction hiuse that handles wine. BTW, 1963 was one of the eleven classic vintages of the twentieth century. Saw a recent auction on winecommune.com selling 1963 Warre's at $120 per. The Taylor's was on winesearcher.com recently for $225 per.

If you know what you have, post them and i can give you a range on the value of each. The range will cover condition and method of resale. I consult on price setting for many older european collections, and depending on producer, condition and lot size the prices swing greatly for the '63's ($80-$1600). I actually appraised a cellar 2 months ago with about 45 cases of '63 ports. The owner realised within 10% of appraised vaslue at the hammer.
