- wondersofwine - 07-27-2004 Reddish-brown color. Felt the alcohol along with prunes and caramel. Attractive package, not overly sweet. Had with vanilla creme brulee at Trio Cafe. - Innkeeper - 07-27-2004 Vanilla! - wondersofwine - 07-27-2004 With vanilla custard I guess (I've also seen chocolate creme brulee, orange brulee, ginger, etc.) - Innkeeper - 07-27-2004 With vanilla I like white dessert wines; with Port I like chocolate. But, then again, whatever you like, you like. - californiagirl - 07-27-2004 wow- Love the 20 yr Sandeman Tawny! (So does KC.) I also taste butterscotch and a touch of vanilla. My absolute favorite desert - especially with the tawny, is creme brulee! I like chocolate with ruby ports. - winoweenie - 07-28-2004 Okie-Dokie CG and WOW....Jes' wait till youse guys go to starvation City. The Weener will REALLY post on Brullllleez and Chocolattes wif' both hands. WW - Georgie - 07-28-2004 Sigh....Sandeman's AND creme brulee...you're killin'me... - wondersofwine - 07-28-2004 CG, I'm fond of creme brulee but one of my favorite desserts is creme caramel. That's nice with the tawny ports. Also I had a tawny port at a NYC restaurant with almond cake and the almonds complemented the Port nicely. (My other favorite desserts mostly include fruits--strawberry shortcake, apricot tarts or pie or peach cobbler, etc.). Usually I'd rather have some kind of a fruit pastry than chocolate cake. - californiagirl - 07-28-2004 wow- my hubby prefers the tawny with cheesecake- new york style of course! Sorry ww! I'm actually jumping back on the diet wagon again starting Monday. Weight Watchers didn't work for me- ended up losing track of my points and buying too much processed foods. I'llbe going the South Beach way also, been researching it for a couple weeks now. Seems the healthiest way to go. Carbs are my weakness- stick straight to the middle and hips. So I guess I'll be going on my own sort of sabbatical. Going to do Phase 1 for 3 weeks. Wish me luck! - Kcwhippet - 07-28-2004 Carbs .... yum!! Got to have my carbs. - Drew - 07-29-2004 I've never really had a weight problem but since I retired I put a few pounds on I didn't need, almost entirely around the middle. Tried the low carb diet and it's not for me so for the last couple of months I've hit the road. I jog 40+ minutes almost every day and work out on my bowflex. I've only lost a couple of pounds but the body has transformed nicely (at least according to Eileen . I don't have the discipline for diets. Drew - hotwine - 07-29-2004 Attaway! Sweat is good! - Drew - 07-29-2004 I'll bottle some up and send you a month's supply... Drew - Thomas - 07-29-2004 Way to go Drew--calories in, calories out. Dieting is self abuse!!! CG, ruby port with chocolate, and tawny with NY cheesecake--you and yours have got it lady... - hotwine - 07-29-2004 Thanks, anyway, Drewski, I produce copious amounts of the stuff. Copious, I say. - winoweenie - 07-29-2004 Actually CG I've found the diet after the 1st 2 or 3 days to be rather easy to follow. As I go into phase 2 it looks like easy sleddin'. Good luck. 32 hous, 19 minutes and 16 seconds to go afore uncorkin' summthin. ...But who's counting? WW - californiagirl - 07-29-2004 KC- how 'bout some mashed potatoes and carrots? - Kcwhippet - 07-29-2004 What about 'em? - californiagirl - 07-30-2004 Gotta love 'em! - Kcwhippet - 07-30-2004 That I do. Keep those carbs coming! |
