Lovely effort. Lots of what Zins' about show here. Alla' them brambly berry thingies, some spices, cocoa, and vanilla. Still needs another 2-4 to resolve the tannins but is developing into one of Freds' best O&M. 90/90. 19 by the box on futures. 14.5% alc. WW

WW, Can you tell me what your opinion is overall of Scherrer. I saw your rec to cg about signing up for their mailing list and was considering it myself.

Fred is a passionate, knowledgeable, and extremely capable winemaker and his internship with Tom Dehlinger and his father owning some of the best and oldest vineyards in Sonoma make him a slam dunk, 'specially on his futures offerings. WW

I can add that I have had Greenwood Ridge Zinfandel (made with Scherrer grapes) and found it to be of very high quality. I haven't had the opportunity to taste Scherrer Wines directly.

WW,

Been trading emails with Judi Scherrer. She absolutely won't ship wine to me. It doesn't matter that from Sonoma Cty Mietz, Acorn, David Coffaro, Siduri and one or two others will ship to me - she won't. Only alternative, if I can't convince Judi otherwise, is to ship to cg, then on from there. Wish Judi were more amenable.

She's a very cautious lady.Tell her she can wait till the check clears! WW

Is there any way to talk to your shop owner and see if you can go that route with shipping? Not that I mind it shipping here! I'd even make sure you get it all, (or almost all).

WW, Judi finally came around when i named those folks I already get wine from and who they use to get it to me. She replied that I definitely fall into the "where there's a will, there's a way" category. She's also used some of the shipping alternatives others have, and is now willing to give it a go. So, I'm sending in an order of a half box each of the 2002 O&M Zin and the Shale Terrace Zin. That's for starters. If we're lucky, it'll get out here by the time you're here, cg, but don't hold your breath.

Good news KC. Judi is looking out for Fred who keeps his size 18 schnozz in the winery. WW
