Hey Everyone,
My wife and I are going to visit Paso Robles in May and are looking for good zins from the area to try to get us ready before we go. We recently tried zins from Eberle and Brochelle and haven't been too impressed. If in the mood for a zin we normally go for a Ridge or Seghesio, but have also liked wines from Nalle and recently had a zin from Green & Red at a local wine bar which we really enjoyed.
Thanks for the suggestions,
BC

Hey there MrC. My two favorite offerings from the area are Mastantuano and Tobin James. Any thing from the Dusi Vineyards should be snapped up. IMHO you should expand your horizons and take in some of the spectacular Pinot Noirs and Syrahs from this area. Have fun. WW

We love to go to Tobin James; great wines and one of the best tasting rooms we've ever been to. On the East Side we like Pipestone. Jeff Pipes and his lovely wife are very interesting folks that make lipsmacking wines from there own mostly there own grapes. All Rhone Rangers are theirs, and their Zin grapes are from nearby.

The Paso Zins are my favorites. WW mentioned Dusi Vineyard, which could be the best. Both TJ and Pipestone make great Zins. Another to look for is AJB. We intend to get of box of theirs sometime soon.

Actually there are three Dusis. Dusi Ranch (Benito Dusi) is on the eastside, and I believe most, if not all, of the grapes from his 80 year old vineyard go only to Ridge and Dover Canyon. On the Westside is Dusi Vineyard (Benito's brother Dante owns it)and the vines are a mix of 60 and 15 years old. A smaller 15 year old vineyard is owned by their nephew Michael. The Westside grapes go to everyone else - Tobin James, Peachy Canyon, Eberle, etc. though I don't know who gets Dante's or Michael's or both.

I like the Ridge Paso Robles Zinfandel and also liked Eberle Steinbeck Vineyard. Is that one of the Eberle you have tried?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've tried the Ridge Dusi ranch and enjoyed it greatly. I'll make sure I check out Pipestone and some of the other suggestions people gave. I've seen Tobin James at a new wine store nearby from which I purchased a Clautiere cabernet and a syrah from Dunning vineyards, but haven't tried them yet.
