Haywood 1996 "Rocky Terrace Estate" Zinfandel ($24) The highest part of the estate vineyard, producing the finest and most concentrated fruit. This is super-Zin! Aged for 22 months in a mix of American and French oak barrels, it has a deeply intense nose of black raspberry with a little ripe cassis. The overall flavors are ripe, very ripe, approaching jammy, while maintaining elegance. One supple and delicious Zinfandel. Rating: 96/87

Curm: I am familiar with this wine but have not yet had the pleasure of drinking it. Living in S.C., Sen Thurmond's home turf, I have had to have my wines shipped to me by independent sources (wine merchants versus wineries). Also, a lot of the smaller producers never make it this far east. Any thoughts as to whom I might contact to get a case? No point in my calling the winery.Thanks.GLGSR.

What you need, more than a merchant, is a personal friend in California (or some other wine friendly state like Nevada, New Mexico, etc.) who can ship to you.

Merchants are nearly as skittish as wineries about shipping to states such as yours.

Any merchants on the board willing to discretely ship a case of Rocky Top to SC...contact glgsr via e-mail, rather than exposing yourself on the board, and you might oick up a loyal new customer..

Big bro might be watching.
