Wonder how Winoweenie would come down on this. It's from real zinfandel grapes (Dusi Ranch) but its a sweetie. Got to sample the 1993 at a wine dinner connected with MoCools and Joel Goldberg at my table said he had some bottles at home, so did someone else so they decided to have a '91 vs. '93 at the next day's picnic. I think I liked the '91 slightly better but both were exceptional. Paul Draper was unable to convince Mr. Dusi to hold back from harvesting some of the grapes on the chance that they would ripen enough for the essence so this wine is no longer being made. Hslf bottles were quite cheap at time of release.

The Dusi ranch has produced some of the most celebrated zins in the history of the CC. Mastantuano made probably the single best zin I ever exparienced from Dusi in 78. Had the 93 Essence in San Diego. Good Juice! As you can tell from my posts, I'm not really a late harvest zin fan. Most end up in the 17+ alc range and at that temp, I want my hand held by a Vintage Port. WW
