For the past year I have been drinking a lot of zinfandels, and it's been hard to find any that I enjoy as much as Cline's Ancient Vines Zinfandel. I thought their 99' had to be about the best of the vintage, at least out of all the ones I've tasted... and I'm not disappointed in their 2000 either. I actually like it better than the 2000 Cline Live Oak Zin, which is about $8 more a bottle. Just brought home 3 cases of it for the cellar today! What also suprises me about this wine is that it actually tastes like it is ageworthy... a quality not associated normally with zinfandels.

Another zin I'm pleased with for the money... is the 2000 Rancho Zabacco Somoma Heritage at $11.99 a bottle. Had it last nite with fried chicken and tators with a cajun dusting... and it went extremely well.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm having a hard time deciding whether I like the 2000 zin's better than the 99's. 99 was such a spectacular year... but the 2000's I've had so far have been higher in alcohol, more full bodied, and are not lacking at all on the fruit. I'd like to hear what you guys think on this.

Haven't opened any of the 2-grands yet but agree on the outstanding 99 ancients. Tried 4 of the new 2000 Renwoods yesterday and brought home 3 mixed cases.Think the problems associated with the 2000 cabs didn't affect the earlier ripening Zins. The 99 cabs have made a liar out of me once more. I swore to my CB I didn't have any more room in the cellar. " How Come she asks, do you show up daily with cases and cases ?" Haint found an answer yet. Help would be 'preciated. WW

Re: no room, but daily appearance of cases of reds. Tell the CB you've discovered a black hole in the cellar. Well...not precisely a black hole...more of a red hole. (stop giggling, Bucko) You know, a time-space discontinueum where gravity is so strong that no red escapes.
