Starting vacation today.....2 glorious weeks at Ocean City, Maryland or as we from the land of "Merlin" say (thats Maryland), "put yar bain suit on, we're goin dan yocean Hon!"
Tonight I opened a bottle of J. Lohr 1997 Paso Robles Merlot. Very dark clear garnet showing tawney colors when swirled. Dark fruit and lots of vanilla on the nose. Wonderful dark cherry and plum with in your face vanilla and oak. Probably not a wine Bucko would enjoy but the fruit was very present in this $12 on sale wine.
I'll be taking along a couple cases of special wines that I'll report on when I return eg. ADW "Alliance" Shiraz, 1997 Pirramimma Shiraz, 1997 Rosemount Shiraz, 1995 Gallo Frei Ranch Cab., 1994 Mazzocco Cab, 1995 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cepages", 1997 Blackstone Napa Merlot, 1997 David Bruce Pinot Noir, 1998 Chateau Cabrieres CDP as well as a 1992 Gallo something Cab for Winoweenie and a bunch more that I can't remember. Most of the wines are already there so resting should'nt be a problem, ("snicker")! Everyone be kind to one another...see ya in a couple.
