I experienced a fine Merlot at Michael Jordan's steak house at Grand Central a week ago. Frustrating as it may seem I cannot recall the name. I do remember that it was French. Any ideas?

Welcome to the board, NoC. That's not much to go on. Suggest you call the restaurant and ask, tel. (212)655-2300, hours 1130-1430 M-F, 1200-1600 Sat, 1230-1600 Sun (lunch), and 1700-2300 M-Sat, 1700-2130 Sun (dinner).
If you had a "house Merlot" by the glass or carafe, they should be able to tell you the name of it; however, there could be two complications - they might rotate different "house Merlots" periodically, or they might be obtaining a wine from a distributor that is not available at retail. All you can do is ask.

Hi NoCause and welcome to the board. Your post said a fine merlot from France so I'll bet it was a Pomerol. Almost any thing from this appellation has a majority of merlot. If you have the receipt the computer may have it posted. If not, post the price range and I can narrow that sucker down to the size of Texas. WW

I assumed NoC didn't know the name of the wine because the bottle wasn't provided, suggesting a house wine served by the glass or carafe. But it could also have been a St Emilion, whose wines can have a very pronounced Merlot profile.
