13.8% alcohol. Aged in French and American oak barrels for 14 months. Grapes are from Sonoma County. I don't have the breakdown on '97 vintage, but website says the '99 vintage was 78.5% Merlot, ll.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.
Both the '98 and '99 received some respectable scores or medals for those who trust the ratings. I don't know what I paid but the 1998 is $17.00 from the winery and can be found for $15.99 on the web.

Forms legs on sides of glass. Dark ruby or ruby/amethyst color. Nose: dark fruits, black olives, possibly a mix of dark plum and blackberries. Palate: Plummy, juicy midpalate; thinner or lighter unidentified fruit note before finish; lengthy finish. Mellow, smooth; has some some character. Better than the average California Merlot. One of the best I have tried from California.
Sonoma comes through again. I would rate as good to very good. The blend of Cabernet Sauvigon and C. Franc may make the difference in its character although the Merlot was predominant in the varietal flavors.
Had with beef Stroganoff and with soft cheese.
