These were two of the 3 "Orphan" wines I took to the 92 Cab tasting.The 83 3-Palm was still vibrant, had some fruit and was still holding. The 86 Napa was, in a word, astounding., Great depth of fruit, , brite cherry , Vanilla, soft spicy nuances and great palate impression. Long finish normally not associated with merlots. Glad this sucker hid for the last 7-8 years.winoweenie

Duckhorn Merlot takes at least 10 years to strut its stuff -- people drink it way too early.

How true Buckster. I treat my top merlots the same as top Cabs. A few I buy to drink like the St Francis are normally brought out at 5 years. winoweenie
