I am not a super-big fan of Merlot. However I have a few bottles on hand; most of them are actually blends rather than all Merlot.

A nice one was drunk the other night. 1997 Robert Sinskey Vineyards Los Carneros Reserve Merlot. 76% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Definitely not one dimensional. Price was not inexpensive, but I don't recall it being absurd, either. Fruit, oak and tannin all present and, I thought, nicely balanced.

Used this to wash down some WSU Cougar Gold and mother's meatloaf with my garlic mashers (leftover-formed into patties and fried in olive oil and cultured butter) and lima beans.
