- wondersofwine - 10-09-2007 Produced by Rusden Wines, Imported by Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA Stelvin closure 14.5% alcohol Dark purple edging towards black. Completely opaque. Viscous--leaves a line when the glass is tilted. Intense, sweetish nose. Slightly gobby and sweet on the first sip; drying tannins as it glides over the palate. Something unusual in the flavors that I couldn't identify. Some grittiness on the finish. Blueberry/dark raspberry mix with slight savor of pepper. Flavor persists for a lengthy finish. Can't see it as a dinner wine. More a blockbuster stand-alone wine. Purchased at Wine Merchant Gourmet in Winston-Salem which also sells delicious artisanal cheeses. |
