Wine Enthusiast has been highlighting the South African '98 and '99 vintages esp. the cabs and merlots. Anyone have experience with those years?

Yes, I've had several, and am still looking for one that will get me really excited about S. African wines. Any ideas?!

They're giving the '98 Simonsig Cab high marks @$15. I'm very suspect cause I haven't had ANY SA wines that showed any finesse or depth...but then the selection round here is limited.
