2000 Picardy, Merlot Cabernet, Pemberton, AU ($30). Alcohol level 14%. This is a blend of Merlot 45%, Cabernet Sauvignon 28%, and Cabernet Franc 27%. It is in other words an Australian Meritage.

It gives you plums, raspberries, and some smoky earthy tones on the nose and upfront. In the middle you get more of same fruit, with some tobacco and cedar flavors. Tannin was as smooth as a babies bum. The finish lingered and lingered.

After a day of shopping and dining in Brunswick and Portland, ME we enjoyed this one with a supper of cheese and baguette. Simply lovely!
