- newsguy - 12-02-2002 ($15.99) deep ruby color with a bit of purple. as usual, decanted for an hour before tasting. blackberries, cassis dominate, plus licorice, sweet oak, vanilla and just a whisper of the violet/lavender that i find in many aussie cabs. good full mouthfeel with a small bit of tannins, and a good finish. if you're looking for a nice wine -- from an excellent vintage -- that's near the top of its game, you'll find it here. i'd guess this will improve for a few more years, but it's certainly ready now. - Drew - 12-08-2002 Don't know how I missed your post Keith. I have only 1 bottle left of this vintage and none to be found anywhere I've been. A really delicious wine. Haven't tried the subsequent vintages but can't wait for the 2001,,,,should be a killer. Drew - newsguy - 12-09-2002 drew, the handful of peter lehmann wines i've tried always have a ton of flavor, especially the barossa shiraz. so i can only imagine what that and the cab are gonna taste like from the 2001 vintage. can you say HUGE? and this stuff is a bargain at the price. p.s. i've lost your e-mail addy, drew. send me a message at brucetour02@yahoo.com [This message has been edited by newsguy (edited 12-09-2002).] - Auburnwine - 12-16-2002 A perfect case for mail order: there is no longer a Peter Lehmann distributor in Alabama. And it's probably against the law for me to bootleg it in from Georgia, isn't it? - newsguy - 12-16-2002 hey auburn, we'll never tell. |
