- Drew - 12-22-2002 Went to a friend's open house yesterday and this was one of the offerings. Clear dark purple. Simple nose of blackberry and vanilla. Like flavors on a very soft frame. Very smooth with silky tannins. I expected more from this bottle considering the good vintage but very average, unexciting, Aussie Shiraz. This line has been going downhill since '98,IMHO. Drew - eskinnyc - 01-02-2003 I've always thought the Rosemounts were a little overrated, with mammoth bottlings (>1MM cases/yr) you can't really shoot for any refinement or grace. I've been sampling a lot of the low-end Shirazes recently, try Black Opal (a Wolf Blass label). Same price as Rosemount (about $10) but far superior IMO. |
