- Drew - 07-28-2005 94% Shiraz, 6% Viognier Made by Woop-Woop and a little higher end offering. Very black/purple in the glass, opaque. Very distracting nose that doesn't match the flavor profile. The floral, honeysuckle-apricot, paperwhite flower, nose from the viognier seems to clash with the blackberry, blueberry vanilla from the goopy shiraz creating a medicinal stinky tennis shoe like scent in the nose. Flavors reminded me of the later offerings from Marquis-Phillips of deep blackberry, blueberry, vanilla in a thick, overripe style with some juicy, berry flavors adding complexity. Also seems to have a little RS providing additional sweetness or that may be the viognier strutin' its stuff. Anyway it's big with a long finish but seems out of wack...not my style but may appeal to some. 15%Alc/vol. $15 DRew [This message has been edited by Drew (edited 07-28-2005).] - hotwine - 07-28-2005 With that recommendation, I'll avoid it like a new form of social disease. Thanky. - Glass_A_Day - 12-05-2006 I went from loving this stuff to having way too much of it. The last bottle is going down my pipe tonight and there won't be any more on the way. I really enjoyed it at first but at about bottle six or seven in the case I was bored silly. Drew is right with the off balance line. - Drew - 12-06-2006 Zonte's Footstep is a much better example of the Shiraz/Viognier blend if you can find it. Drew |
