I found this wine for $5.97/bottle. Did I get a good deal on it?

I've never had a Shiraz/Cabernet mix. Looking forward to it.

You probably got it as a loss leader in the store. It should sell for around $6.99 or $7.99. You might also like the other Rawson's: A Cab that actually tastes like Cab, a Merlot that does ditto, and a pretty nice Chard, all for small $$. For a splurge, their new Thomas Hyland Shiraz is a nice, stately, non-fruit-bomby bottle for around $15.

About a week ago the Charlotte Observers Wine colume they have on wednesdays had an artical on Penfolds wines. Karen, who usually doesn't buy wines, bought me a bottle of the 2001 Thomas Hyland Shiraz at Sams Club ($12.00).
This is the best Shiraz I have had. Dark purple in the glass, dark fruit flavors. Good weight to the wine, not too heavy but far from a thin wine. It has a wonderfull finish that I am trying to describe. Maby eucaliptas?
