2001 Tatachilla, Partners, Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz, South Australia ($9.99 Southern Hemisphere Wines [Reg: $14.99; let's hear it for the glut]). Blackberries and plums on the nose and upfront. Spicy, peppery, and round full body, but not high octane (13.5% alcohol); accompanies smooth tannins across the palate. Very nice finish. Definitely ready to drink now, but the structure and acidity is there to carry it on for at least three four more years. Will take our time with the rest of the half box purchased. Matched this one with grilled tenderloin steaks with mesquite chips providing smoke. The shiraz in the blend picked up the smoke in the meat nicely. At the purchase price a super QPR.

Sounds like a great house wine or big party wine.....

Definitely getting more. Had it tonight with grillpanned Porterhouse Aioli, and eggplant salad. Fantastic.
