Double decanted, still very deep color

Nose was rather pure compared with some of the other barolos in the field, nose of berries, cherry, rather floral. On palate, much the same but really nice balance of everything until the HIGH doses of tannins comes in. killed a baby but with a try and wil store this one away for years!! very very nice.

Gaia is one of the best and his wines need time. I'm guessing 3-5 years. They are worth the wait.

Thanks WG!

It was a very nice wine and I wish I had a bit more experience with their products but many, $$$. This one is definitely going into the hole for a few years.

A couple of years ago at VinExpo in Hong Kong I got a chance to sit down with Angelo Gaja for about 25 minutes and he walked me and a couple of my friends through ALL of his wines Ahhh that was so nice, to see a man so into his wines and to have him alone for so long. We all walked away wishing we had more money to be able to afford his stuff....... Very nice and intense man!

I remember the booth I visited before Gaja was Guigal (where I meet father and son) and then the next one was Vega Scilia followed by Taylor Fladgate.......... Oh it was such a great trip!!!! It is back in Hong Kong this year but I could not find time to go.... In all fairness, I think I would like to go to one in France next year. See them in their own base.

Hope you get to do that, Eng. I love talking with the winemakers (unless I don't really care for their wines and then it can be sticky as I don't want to offend them.)
