I will be getting married in one month, and need to provide our facility with a few wine recommendations (red & white). We will be serving Roasted Beef tenderloin w/ fresh garlic & rosemary in a Demi sauce, grilled asparagus, baby red new potatoes. Appetizers will be Southwestern crab cakes, marinated teriyaki chicken skewers and spinach/cheddar cheese phyllo dough wraps. I want a nice Merlot or Cab and Chardonnay that won't break me (preferrably under $15 per bottle, rated no lower than an 87. Any suggestions? Thank you tons!

Try asking Wine Spectator then.........

There are plenty of wines I could suggest, but you'd be hard pressed to find any "rating" for them, let alone an 87.

Mr. Dutton,
I appreciate your response and would be thrilled to receive any recommendations that you think are a good fit for this dinner reception menu. I want to have some nice choices, but not overdo it.

I may be off, but when looking at that menu I would serve a German Riesling at the Kabinett Level, or a crisp low end white burgundy with little to no oak.

JL Wolf, Villa Wolf or Dr. Loosen should work for the riesling.

For the burg, look for any of the inexpensive macon wines or a chablis by Laurent Tribut. Or the Louis Latour Montagny 1er cru La Grande Roche.

For a red, I would go with a beaujolais or a cote du rhone (then again I will always go with a rhone red). Look for ones in your price range imported by Kermit Lynch. They should be readily available in your neck of the woods.
