I received a bottle of 2001 Argiano Rosso di Montalcino as a gift. I haven't had this type of wine before, but understand it to be a "younger brother" of Brunello di Montalcino that does not need to be aged as long. My question is, is this a wine that can be opened and enjoyed in the near future, or, if not, how long should I let it rest before popping the ol' cork?

Thanks!

It should approachable now, but will be best around '06. Have it with a heavier meal than you would with Chianti Classico. Something like a rich Italian beef stew.

Thanks much, IK. After popping a Crozes-Hermitage too soon last year, I didn't want to be premature on this one.
