- redsauced - 03-13-2006 2001 Terrine Castello Della Paneretta My first experience with Super Tuscans, if indeed this is one. Any thoughts on when to drink? The bottle is staring me down, and I'm getting weak. Dave - brappy - 03-17-2006 Just looked this up on CellarTracker and it seems the window to drink is now through 2011. Another place i found a tasting note from SLIPPYTOAD WINE BLOG: "Medium bodied supertuscan. Jen liked this more than Nick. I think it needs a long time in a decanter to open upbefore it starts to exhibit a good nose and complexity. Red berry nose, tiny hints of coffee. Firm structure and smooth tannins at first, shortish finish. Rather overpriced." Hope this helps. Oh.... and the date of the note is 2/28/06. mark PS I don't know if I'm commiting some kind of fraud by just copying and pasting. If I am then please edit my post and let me know. - Innkeeper - 03-18-2006 So long as you trubute, it's OK. - robr - 03-18-2006 On a related note, in Tom Stevenson's 2006 Wine Report one of the writers for the Italian section notes that the days of the overpriced Super Tuscans may be slowly coming to an end. Apparently they have just about priced themselves out of the market. [This message has been edited by bernkastler (edited 03-18-2006).] |
