This was the '98 plain ole ($11.99 local). Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is the ideal wine to have with light Italian dishes that are a bit much for a white. It is a so-called "retro rose" that is is about the same color as Drouhin's Laforet Pinot Noir. It is fruity and smooth with enough earth to let you know "that's Italian." Matched it with a light supper of leftover pasta. Very, very nice. Bet even Bucko would like it.
