This wine's strong aromas of blackberry and plums are followed up with lively flavors of blackberry, blackcurrant, and raisin, balanced with a touch of earth. The finish provided a lovely, slightly bitter taste of baked black fruits. Paired nicely with good ole spaghetti and veal/pork meatballs. 13% Alc., $10. (Otto's Wine Cask, Brown Deer Road)

Sounds like a nice spaghetti wine. You didn't mention acidity level, but if all went well, it must have been there.

If it's Barbera d'Asti I'll bet the acidity level is there.

Yes, it wasn't wildly acidic, but just enough to work with the tomato sauce. I'm finding more and more that I really enjoy Italian wines.

Someone tried to sell us that wine for $136 a case WHOLESALE yesterday and we told them that at $9-10 RETAIL it would be a deal.... Seems they got reamed and were trying to recoup with us.

Nah, Roberto: they saw your gullible smile...
