A friend recently inherited this:
1985 DOCG
Val di Suga
Brunello di Montalcino
My questions: Is it drinkable? Can it stay in the cellar? What's the retail value?

You're in luck. The 1985 vintage is quite good, and the Val di Suga Brunello is a very good quality wine. Assuming correct storage conditions (constant, preferably cool temperature, bottle on it's side, etc.) the wine should be excellent for the next 10 years - but enjoyable now!

Agree, but would hold off till next year (yeah, that's almost immediately). Have a policy of buying at least one what could be called "second growth" Brunello (and Val de Suga is one them) per year, and opening them on their fifteen birthday. This is usually my most delightful wine experiance of the year.
