After I saw this label at Lidia's Kansas City during dinner last week, I picked up a bottle (say what you want, a distintive label helps set off alarms when you see it next time) This bottle of white wine didn't cost much, $6.50 or so, but it provided a very nice foil to Friday nights Shrimp remoulade, grilled salmon, spinach salad w/strawberries and carmelized pecans & pommes a l'huille. Light body, enough acid to stay with the salads. I know they grow a lot of Trebbiano (known as Ugni Blanc in S. France) much of the French juice winds up as brandy, some of the Italian is allowed into the chianti blend if memory serves. At any rate there's plenty and I'll buy more of this. Not exactly my new favorite, but there's something to be said for a tasty summer sipper that goes well with food or solo, and doesn't break the bank. (It's getting harder for me to find new white wines, seems there's only room on local shelves for boatloads of pinot grigio from Italy or Chardonnay from everywhere. I like PG and Chard as well as the next guy, but where'd all the others go?)

FYI, here's a link to Lidia's $18 wine list. While she has another list of 'reserve' wines, everything on this list is $18, and there are some tasty choices there. No need to feel compelled to buy like a 'big shot' or a huddle like a 'cheap skate', just pick a wine or two that you like that will go well with your dinner.
I heartily approve of this idea, and hope other local restaurants pick up on the concept.
