Isn't anyone else drinking Italian wine these days? We had included the 1997 Bersano, Costalunga, Barbera D'Asti in our Christmas package for siblings, and had some left over. Had it last night with meatballs (yes, those super bowl meatballs) and spaghetti, with salad. The good news is the meatballs are finally finished and the Bersano is still great. It also has to be among the best values in a barbera as well; Pop's has it for $12.15. Can't imagine anything to match better with the meatballs, spaghetti, and rich tomato sauce. The thing we like best about these lighter barberas is washing down the after dinner salad with them. Smooth as silk. When we do that with some other wines we could mention, you get fireworks of the mouth.

My mixed case from Roberto is just about gone..... no more Italian for me for a bit..... only a bottle of Prosecco left.

Every one of the several I tried was a wonderful experience except one. I've posted information about that one a while back.

Hey IK, I'm still quaffing the Italianos. Had a bottle of the 1997 Bovio "Il Ciotto" Barbera that I reviewed about 6 mos ago in my mini-barbera tasting. I liked it a lot. Picked up a barbera from Foodie's shop that I've yet to try. I've been doing an awful lot of drinkin' of late, just not much postin' due to too much work. I'll try to rectify the situation.
