what would be the best wine to have with duck?

- Bucko - 01-28-1999

It depends on how the duck is prepared. For instance, if it was baked, a nice Pinot Noir would be appropriate. If it was prepared with a rich brown sauce, a Merlot might be a better match.

And with a green peppercorn sauce...a big, but refined, Syrah (Fess Parker, maybe?) would be dandy.

Stay away from the too sweet orange and cherry sauces if you can...they are tough to match wine to, but Pinot Noirs seem to do best.
