I bought this bottle of Barbera yesterday at Total Wine, mainly because i don't remember seeing this one before and it was only $5.99.

I am trying to understand the lable. Some help would be appreciated.
Who is the producer?
I usualy see D'alba or D'asti on Barbera lables, is this a differant style?
Is Piemonte a reigon in Italy?

Writing on the bottle from top to bottom.

Piemonte is a region (northwest) in Italy. Alba and Asti are different places in Piemonte and yes, different styles; I prefer Alba for its tamed acidity.

Looks like Pietro is the producer of your wine.

Since you have a Barbera without a designated town on the label, you have a Piemontese wine produced from grapes that were grown in Piemonte but likely not in Alba or Asti, or if so, they were blended from grapes produced in more than one place.

I am particularly interested if you can find on the label anything that speaks to Geografica Tipica or an IGT designation.

Thanks for the information.

No Foodie, all that info was on the front lable. The only thing on the back was.

I opened this tonight to go with IK's meatballs and pasta. I'm not sure how to describe it. maby a little earthy. Not as good as the S. Orsola 2001 Barbera d'Asti, I had a while back. I would like to taste them side by side though.

Let me give you some information that will help.....Here I believe is the name of the Producer Toso Pietro......who produces in the Town of Cossano Belbo. This is in the Langhe Region of Italy.

Producer's name: TOSO PIETRO & C. snc
Address: Reg. Chiossa 4 s.s.592 km19,200
City: 12054 Cossano Belbo (CN) - Italia
Phone: 0141-88200
Fax: 0141-88588

Here is a website with some information:

Where did you buy this wine......check with the owner or ask for the Distributor Rep if it came from an off-premise location such as a grocery store. This is one reason why building a relationship with a wineshop owner can be valuable..IMHO
