Hi all,

Wine is not an area where I have any expertise.

I have inherited a bottle that has stood on my grandmother's piano for over 30 years. Mom and I are wondering if it is something special or just a fancy bottle.

The bottle is 19 1/2 inches tall. It is labeled as a product of Italy and was imported by R.U. Delapenha & Co. Inc. of New York City. The label says bottled by V. Mazzoni & Foli Empoli. The word Foli is displayed with a capitol F followed by a period with the oli in superscript and double underlined.

The bottle contains 1 quart alcohol by vol 12.5%.

The label listing Mazzoni has 4 coins on the right side and a coat of arms on the left side.

The only reference I can find to Mazzoni is a winery in CA.

Does anyone have any idea what I have here? Is it something we should try to sell, or use for cooking?

Thanks for your help!

Put it back on the piano, it has surely oxidized over the last thirty years and was not anything to amazing to begin with. Unfortunately, much Chianti of meager pedigree was marketed with fancy bottles in the times of yore......
