I was impressed by an Umbrian Merlot from Felasco at the Nantucket Wine Festival. It was touted as having a rating of 92 from Parker and costing only about $19 a bottle. I thought it was more enjoyable than any of the California merlots I've had recently. I see one other note here about an enticing Italian merlot from Bortoluzzi. Anyone else trying the Italian merlots these days?

In his absence, I'll dare to speak for Innkeeper: in a word, Collio. Some of us generally avoid the market-hype Calif. merlots. Foodie provided the Collio solution.

Use the "search" function w/ search word "Collio", forum "Italian Wines..", "Any date" on the Board to track recent comments.

Merlot--Collio. It has a ring to it, and it has a reason too.
