2001 Trevini Salento Primitivo, Puglia ($7.99 Wine Expo). Alcohol level 14%. Absolutely lovely Primitivo. Much like a medium level Zinfandel with some prominent Salento dirt. Gives you dark berries on the eye, nose, and tongue tip. Smokey complexity with afore mentioned dirt on the palate, all followed with a fantastic finish. Quite a bang for the buck at eight dollars.

Matched it with pasta in tomato sauce with with it did not go well. Selected it because Bev is having reflux problems and needed low acid. So the tomatoes had to suffer. No matter, drank it with the sausages, spinach, and chocolate for dessert.

Roberto recommended having this one with BBQ, and I fully concur that would be a great idea.
