- hotwine - 09-17-2003 With mozzarella & basil pizza. Lovely Barbera, smooth as a baby's bum. Bruised berries and charcoal on the nose, more on the palate with a touch of chocolate, 13% ABV and $18.99 at the discounter. Affirming my contention that a nice wine can elevate even a poor frozen dinner to the sublime (she's in the mountains of NM visiting girlfriends while I supervise remodeling of the master suite (sniffle)). - Thomas - 09-17-2003 Geez, hotsie. I don't doubt the quality of the wine--I am a fan of Barbera from Alba, but that price is rather high. I have had stellar B. D'Alba from 12 to 16 dollars. What's the deal on that one? Have you any idea why so expensive? - winoweenie - 09-18-2003 Foodster-baby....Don't you see the point of origin on those posts. He's lucky they have Annie Green Springs in Helioteszz. Sheesh! ww - Thomas - 09-18-2003 I get it--like Arizona and gasoline... - hotwine - 09-18-2003 Yeah, the price was high; I usually prefer the $12-$16 bottlings. Assumed this one was higher because it's a '96. Bought it on a birthday splurge a couple of weeks ago. - winoweenie - 09-18-2003 I love it whenced a plan goes asunder. ww |
