- Drew - 11-05-2006 Wow, I'm outta my league here. I have vey little experience with Italian wine and yesterday while in Midway Liquors, the owner Stan suggested this wine as he had just returned from a trip to Italy in September. The grapes Aglianico 40% and Piedirosso 60%. Clear ruby in color. Cherry and sweet raspberry flavors with a hint of sweet, dried herb on the finish. Delicate and simple, light to medium bodied. Paired it with a simple meal of penne pasta with sausage in red sauce and fresh grated Pecorino-Romano cheese. The wine paired so beautifully I drank 3/4 of the bottle which is rare for me. 13% Alc/vol. $15. Imported by Bacchus Imp. WW - Thomas - 11-05-2006 WW, You'll need to know the name of the producer--who is it Drew? Lacrima Christi del Vesuvio is the DOC. - Drew - 11-10-2006 Sorry I took so long getting back to you, work's been a little hectic. From Marc De Grazia Estate bottled by De Angelis S.N.C. Sorrento, Italia Drew - winoweenie - 11-12-2006 My San Diego pusher is getting me 2 boxes of the stuff. I'll pickup and post next month after Mexico. WW - Drew - 11-12-2006 Two boxes huh? I hope you like this stuff. It's a very simple wine that I thought very food friendly but might be a little light or plain for you considering those monster cabs you consume in mass quantities.
