Have gone through 3 bottles of this now (at $9.99), and like it more and more. Dark garnet in color, with a nose of cherries. More cherries and some plumminess up front, with a nice acidity and just a touch of spiciness. Medium-bodied, supple mouthfeel. It has gone great with appetizers, pasta, and cheese.

I haven't seen a lot of barbera on the shelves, but don't understand why. I think that it makes for a great everyday drinker.

I agree.... posted on it yesterday under Best Buys.

John G, that particular wine is a nice sipper but when you want a big, bold Barbera, it can be found too. I generally prefer the Barberas from Alba as opposed to Asti.

Also, Ruche, with a little Barbera blended into it, is a BIG wine.

I'm with you, Foodie. I also prefer those from Alba. They seem to have more structure, more oomph! For a sipper, maybe with cheese and crackers, the Asti is fine; but for a meal, would prefer the Alba.

Thanks for the tip -- I'll try one from Alba next time.
