i've purchased a bottle of Borgogno & Figli, Giacomo, Barbaresco red vintage wine, 1982. The bottle does not have the ugly sulfite,barcode and gov't warnings. Candling of the bottle revealed sediment. Any comments welcome. Thanx, Gary.

82' was a very good year for Barbaresco, and as long as it was stored properly prior to your purchase, you should have a very nice experience awaiting you. I have a 90' Barolo Riserva from the same producer as your Barbaresco, and I have been told it is very good. I will probably let mine age for some time still. As far as yours, it is most definately ready to drink. I would think you should be safe storing it longer if you chose to, but I am always concerned with Barolo's, Barbaresco's, and Brunello's, that they will lose their fruit the longer you keep them. Hope this helps.

Thanx for the valuable tip. I've opened the bottle,and have nursed it for 3 days now. Even tried it with ceasar salad on monday and with pasta this evening. The wine took some time to open up. On monday it was still "dormant", but after letting it breath a while, it seemed to taste richer. I liked it so much, I went back to the merchant and bought up his remaining stock. Thanx again. If it took that long to open up, then I would say your remaining ones should likely continue to age well, for some time to come. If however you get the urge to pop open another one anytime soon, I would suggest decanting it, as that will let more air hit it, and open it up a little quicker for you. Cheers!
