After WW's recent posts about the Keefer Ranch bottle from this Sonoma Coast producer, we decided to finally crack this one to see how it's doing. We tend to give Hirsch wines a little more bottle age, and this one rewarded being patient. Dark garnet in color. Decanted 30 minutes before 1st pour and through evening. Nose of crushed cherries and red spices. Deep and rich flavors of cherry and black plums and a finish that is distinctly cinnamon stick. Big, but balanced and really nice stuff. Anne bought it a few years back at Vintage Wines in San Diego upon rec. I believe she paid about $44. Alc. 14.3%. I think we'll try an '02 Patricia Green Hirsch Vineyard next -- yes, she's an Oregonian, but she has made some wines using Hirsch fruit. We haven't had one of her '02s in a few years, so it's time to see how it's doing.
